What are Termites ?
Termites have almost 2500 species in the world. Out of 337 species of termites known so far from India, about 35 have been reported damaging agricultural crops and buildings
They are commonly called as Deemak/दीमक/చెదలు and white ants
They enter into house in search of cellulose found in wood paper and cloth
Subterranean termites builds their nests in the soil
Non Subterranean termites are wood nesting which live in wood with no contact to soil.They are the most common and damaging termites in all over the world and India.
Life Cycle of a Termite
The termite life cycle indicates the three castes, the reproductives, the soldiers and the workers.
Reproductives can be further divided into: Alates, the young winged reproductives of both sexes.
Workers : Their colony may contain 50,000 to 5 Milion workers.Their job is to search for food and build tunnels and take care of other termites.life span is – 1 to 2 years.
Soldier: These termites develop strong jaws and legs.Their job is to proect the colony.
Alates : Matured nymph that develop the wings and leave the colony to start a new colony elsewhere.They loose their wings after finding a mate.
Life span of a Queen is 10 to 15 years.

The building / property will be thoroughly examined for the infestation spread in and around the building.
The next step is to remove or destroy the termites located in the building areas such as inside walls, ceiling, conduits,switchboards, etc.
Using a 12mm drill bit, make a series of holes at 1 feet intervals with 45-degree angle at carpet area skating level. The chemical emulsion shall be injected into the holes to create the chemical barrier across the walls.
The drilling holes should be drilled at critical corners, such as wall joints, door, and window frames embedded.
But the chemical, holes and depth will be different base on size of the foundation because the chemical should reach the ground to restrict the termite’s entries. If already termites attack the household items, then we have to apply the chemical to material by the spraying method.
Holes will be closed with chemical injected chalk and white cement
